You'll want to take a closer look at this charming one-bedroom small cottage plan located in Marshall, Virginia, United States. The farm stay vacation home can accommodate up to 2 guests with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. During your vacation stay, you'll have the entire home to yourself. This tiny home is uniquely tasteful yet whimsical and is a completely renovated chicken coop. This is the perfect place to press the reset button and get some fresh air in a lovely location.

You will have access to 130 acres of fields, woods, a good size pond if you enjoy fishing, with trails to the Rappahanock River following in the footsteps of many two and four-legged before you. There are one hundred and thirty acres of fields and woods on a land easement farm, with paths to the river, and a large pond for fishing. There are chickens (and yes you can have fresh eggs) donkeys, and the owner has dogs with Davis being the self-appointed Ambassador.

Inside this cozy farm stay vacation home, you'll find plenty of inspiration for a tiny house of your own. The comfortable tiny house has a good-sized covered porch, the perfect place to sit back relax, and enjoy your morning cup of coffee or tea, and throughout the day you can look out and enjoy the lovely setting. Once inside the tiny house is nicely decorated with dark grey walls, light grey floors, and white trim throughout. There is a bit of color with the patchwork curtains, quilt, and rugs to give a comfy look and feel, perfect for the farm stay. There is a small desk with a lamp which you can use if there is any work you need to do. Throughout the cozy farm stay tiny house there are farmhouse details, such as a wooden desk, chicken wire ceiling lights, rooster pitcher, and barn door to the bathroom to name a few.

Marshall was originally known as Salem and is home to the Fauquier Heritage and Preservation Foundation. Marshall has a small-town vibe but a first-class food scene. The town has a population of just under 1,500, but thanks to its band of enthusiastic restaurateurs it has a gourmet pedigree that attracts foodies from Virginia and beyond. Marshall was known as Salem until 1881 when the town’s name was then changed to honor a native son, Supreme Court Justice John Marshall, who was born in Fauquier County in 1755.

The town is located in the Virginia Piedmont, with rolling farmlands that unspool into the forested terrain of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to the great restaurants and wineries to enjoy, residents of this small town share a passion for spending time outdoors and honoring the region’s agricultural and equestrian heritage. Locals support efforts to preserve historic buildings, transforming them in innovative and sustainable ways. Great discoveries happen once in a while, our favorite thing to do while exploring is to search on Google Maps for abandoned places, and this time we got lucky and found another gem in the countryside of France. Not much is known about the abandonment of this grand estate and the disappearance of the Family Grie that lived inside it. Around 5 years ago they left their immaculate family home behind with everything still in there. Nature is slowly taking over the surrounding area around the mansion, and it has a very dystopian and mysterious feeling when you walk around its grounds. I am eager to discover the history behind this place and I am going to take you today with me on this fascinating adventure, are you ready?

Mister Martin lived in this grand Luxembourgish farm together with his six children and his wife Mariel. They were known as the happy farming family because they were always seen together and participated in and organized lots of activities around the charming historic village. Unfortunately, his wife passed away early on in their relationship, this left him to care alone for his 6 children at first he managed. But over time the burden got too high for him and he grabbed towards alcohol to cope with his problems, this lead to a spiral of abuse and addiction where he never recovered from… His children left him one by one until he eventually had nobody left to take care of him. In the fall of 2011, Mister Martin was rushed to the hospital for an alcohol overdose from which he never recovered. The children don’t seem to care about the house he had left behind, the resale value is slim to none in this remote part of Luxembourg, so ever since his passing it has been slowly withering away until Mother Nature claims it for herself once again.

On the grassy plains of an embattled French meadow that endured much political strife, sits a majestic castle with a harrowing history of its own.
Originally intended to be an important fortified castle, the construction of this dignified landmark was finished in the early 16th century.

Exactly one year ago, after the castle had been fading into oblivion for decades a priori, we visited this phenomenal place and could not believe our eyes. As centuries passed, the property was inhabited by the military nobility and several lieutenants who played a predominant role during the French Revolution. The personal legacy of generation upon generation is now left behind only to be devoured by nature as vegetation creeps through windows and doors/
Today we take you on an intriguing adventure back in time, as we visit this castle and take you on a journey through priceless historical mementos and invaluable antique furniture. One can rightly ask how such places even exist, and how one could ever leave such abundant history behind for the fate of the elements.

Today we are opening and sharing a discarded hidden treasure that has remained closed for years with each and every one of you.

Fortunately, the future of the building looks bright. The castle was recently bought and is currently being replenished back to its former glory. But before that happens, we're taking you on one last look behind its spellbound walls.

Mister Jean-Louise…

A descendant from the Depont family that have been living in this picturesque French town since the beginning of the 16th century. The family Depont still resides in the town but Jean-Louis passed away around a decade ago, however, nobody seems to care about the belonging and memories that he left behind. Many people around town speculate that it is due to the chocking and dark display of taxidermy animals that can be seen throughout the house. Mister Jean-Louis started becoming obsessed with hunting after his wife passed away, and his children moved out, he was a very secluded person and could mostly be found inside his home or in the nearby Forrest. His house is a reflection of him and tells a much deeper story than we would have ever expected when we first walked inside. 

Let’s go through what remains and let’s put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

Today we will explore a derelict castle that found its origins in the 17th century, a time when France was still ruled by kings and queens, that said this used to be a residence of the former king of France. He used it as a holiday home until the township got furious at him and invaded his place, after which he never returned to this imminent beauty. Decades went by without anyone stepping foot inside, this was until the Family La Roch decided to secure the place and save it from its forthcoming death, the castle had survived its first abandonment. The family lived here for centuries and left their fingerprints all over the place, countless precious antiques and artifacts, endless memories, and history to write books about being left behind. The last resident was the entitled Madeleine, she passed away around the year 1990 and there was no one left after her to protect this beauty from its second round of abandonment, the castle has deteriorated fast and is most likely not savable anymore, let us go inside and show you the remains of what used to be a place of greatness…

The art the silence...
Thousands of books are gathering dust in the attic of this abandoned house.
A massive stone bust of Joseph Stalin is still on display in the upstairs wooden stairwell.
And even, the pictures of their children and coloring pictures they once made still roam around the home. And the dishes are still on the counter and in the sink, waiting forever to be washed and cleaned up. This house is a true time capsule.

Let me take you into the story of an architect of Russian origin, who immigrated to rural France in his middle age, together with his wife and two children, and designed this house all by himself for his dearest family.
Some day, the family disappeared without a trace, and the door has remained unopened for years since, leaving their former dwelling stagnant in the time ever since, giving Mother Nature the chance to gradually reclaim what was once hers.

Today I'll give you a new glance in yesteryear, as we're delving ourselves into the aftermath of a Russian family's life that was previously existent in this home.

Somewhere in the middle of a picturesque French, we found a charming estate that got completely forgotten about. It once was in the ownership of Mister Remon and his beloved wife Anna, A German couple that moved to France in the late 80s. Mister Remon got the opportunity of a lifetime and became a surgeon. Together with his wife he lived in this grand manor for around 30 years, but sadly he passed away of a terminal illness. His wife kept on living in this here alone for around 10 more years until she also passed away in the year 2016. Ever since that time their estate has been abandoned and now is slowly rotting way. Come with us and let's uncover the lives of this lovely German couple and let us take you on a revealing tour of their former kingdom.

Her er det trivelig oppholdsrom, soverom med 4 sengeplasser, gang med 2 sengeplasser, samt et avlåst soverom som benyttes av fjelloppsynet.

Det er fint å fiske både i Skardtjønnan, Fossbekken, Gråmyrbekken og Fjelldokka.

BRUK AV BUENE: I de første tre ukene av småviltjakta (14/9-5/10) er det mulig å leie buene. Resten av året står de åpne for fjellvandrere som trenger tak over hodet for rast eller overnatting. Ingen har fortrinnsrett til bua med mindre det er avtalt med fjellstyret på forhånd.

BETALING FOR BRUK AV BUENE: Overnatting: kr. 100,- pr pers/pr døgn (barn/ungdom under 18 år bor gratis) Dagsbesøk: Dagsbesøkende som bruker ved mm betaler et passende beløp.

Life is not permanent, so always live in the now.
Today I'm emphasizing this statement with a visual example. I visit one of the most magnificent abandoned mansions I have ever seen in Belgium, dating back to the Victorian era.
This was once the family home of Mrs. Cornelia and her husband, that had a lucrative family business in beekeeping and thereby generated a lot of wealth in their time.
The years may have left their mark on the house but the main entrance hall with its cherished ornate ceilings and unique walls feels frozen in time. Dining chairs are poised around an elegant dining table as though waiting for the home's residents to ever return.
And mementos from those who once lived within these walls still linger on surfaces and on cupboards.

After being married to her husband for many years, she gave birth to a child at a later age, called Monica.
At a certain point in her life, she lost her husband but luckily still had her lovely daughter Monica taking care of her. As she grew older, she started coping increasingly with her health. Few years thereafter, she was taken to a nursing home where she drew her last breath at the age of 87 years old.

Get carried away on another tour through a graceful desolate place, as I will bring all faded grandeur and precious memories of Mrs. Cornelia and her family back to life.
